This Girl
by Daisy Alexander, Grade 5, N. Ferrisburgh, VT
This girl,
she’s beautiful
her eyes are wide, deep blue
and stained with grief
piercing pink cheeks
like apples, like roses
and her hands,
so white,
so smooth,
so perfect
the lips are so quiet
perfectly shaped,
she’s frowning, with sadness
depression dawned on her
her life is a blur,
so complicated,
no good,
clustered with unhappiness
but, when she passes me,
she sends over a spell
I’m so joyful, and pleasant
so happy,
I feel so special one of a kind, me alone
only me, no one else
then I think, maybe that’s why
she’s so sad
her soul is good, kind
she passes happiness along to others
but after me, it’s gone
she’s ran out of love
the only love she holds now is in her heart,
it’s the stuff, pure love.
